JESUS CHRIST, OUR COMFORT AND PEACE
By Synthia Esther December 25, 2015
Jesus Christ is our redeemer and friend, upon whom we can pray and depend. From the pages of "An Anglican Prayer Book", (Preservation Press of the Prayer Book Society USA, 2008, page 18) comes such a worthy, sentimental prayer asking God for continual help and guidance:
"Go before us, Lord, in all our doings, with your most gracious favor, and further us with your continual help; that in all our works begun, continued and ended in you, we may glorify your holy name, and finally by your mercy attain everlasting life, through Jesus Christ our Lord"- Amen.
"The wish to pray is a prayer in itself." - George Bernanos. Such is true, for God knows the heart of one that places such a wish to thought. By the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Love of God, and fellowship of the Holy Spirit, we know His heart and ear is always extended upon us - 2 Corinthains 13:14.
God alone is our great high priest, and with confidence we are made worthy of His salvation plan when we claim Him as Lord (Romans 10:10; John 3:16-17). In faith, we draw near to His throne of grace by and through repentance and prayer. Fully knowing His forgiveness and mercy to be everlasting, His unconditional love beyond measure. With confident assurance we Trust in Jesus, our Lord. In prayer we learn to trust Him more as our spirit dwells and rests in His comfort and peace.
"JESUS, MY LORD" - PRAYER
Jesus, my Lord, Come to me; Comfort me; console me.
Visit the hearts In strange lands yearning for You.
Visit the dying and those who are dying without You.
Jesus, my Lord, Visit also those who persecute You.
Lord Jesus, You are my light in the darkness.
You are my warmth in the cold.
You are my happiness in sorrow.
