Protect My Children, Oh Lord I Pray
By Synthia Esther December 25, 2015
The principle factor of prayer being, Jesus, is the only hope of the world. As we shut out distractions and pray, we place our minds under God's influence. As Christian parents, we depend upon God for help with raising our children. * Ruth Bell Graham writes, "Lord, I think it is harder to turn the worries and cares of my children over to You than my own. For through the years, as I have grown in faith, I have learned that You are merciful and kind. Not one time have You failed me, Lord - why do I fear You will fail mine?"
God never fails to provide us with wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, when we ask Him for guidance (Proverbs 2: 1-11). He provides protective care over all our own, when we live for Him. By His loving example, we learn the importance of praying for children - Matthew 19:13-15. Likewise, we pray, and train our children to know God, for they are His heritage - Psalm 127:3. By doing so, we have the word of our Holy Father, that when they are older, they too will lean on Him, never departing when they are old - (Psalm 78:6; Proverbs 22:6). The circle of the faithful follower of Christ, means even future generations after, will too grow in love, and faith to depend upon Him (Exodus 20:6).
A PRAYER FOR OUR CHILDREN
Great God, with heart and tongue To The aloud we pray, that all our children, while they're young, may walk in wisdom's way.
Now in their early days, teach them Thy will to know; O God, Thy sanctifying grace on every heart bestow.
Make their defenseless youth the object of Thy care; cause them to choose the way of truth and flee from every snare.
Their hearts to folly prone renew by power divine; unite them to Thyself alone, and make them wholly Thine.
