PRAYERS OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA

THE ANGEL PRAYER OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA

By Synthia Esther
January 5, 2016

The Angel Prayer (often referred to as an Act of Reparation of The Holy Trinity), is based upon the Angel sightings (who called himself the "Guardian Angel of Portugal"), and related to, the Our Lady of Fatima, Mother Mary apparitions ("Our Lady of the Holy Rosary" as she has been called).  The Angel appeared to three children who were and are most often described as visionaries and seers, and gave the following prayer: "O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I adore Thee profoundly.  I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences by which He is offended.  By the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary I beg the conversion of poor sinners."

OTHER PRAYERS GIVEN TO THE THREE CHILDREN

The "Decade Prayer" is the most common prayer associated with the original five prayers relating to the Fatima Mary and Angel vision accounts, which began in the summer of 1916, in and around, Fatima Portugal.   While herding sheep in Cova da Iria, near their home village of Fatima, nine year old Lucia Santos and her two cousins, Jacinta and Francisco Marto, saw the Angel.  In 1917,  Lucia seeing a "lady shining brighter than the sun, shedding rays of light clearer and stronger than a crystal goblet filled with the most sparkling water and pierced by the burning rays of the sun" (John De Marchi, 1952, The Immaculate Heart, New York: Farrar, Straus and Young, as retrieved from Wikipedia 1/5/2016).  The four other original prayers included the Angel Prayer (as cited above), a Pardon Prayer, Eucharistic Prayer, and Sacrifice Prayer.  The Conversion and Salvation Prayers, are two other prayers (making a total of seven) associated with Fatima, and was given to Lucia, the last surviving of the three children.  Lucia states in 1931, she had a vision in Rianxo Spain, whereby she met Christ who gave her the two prayers to also be prayed (Wikipedia - retrieved 1/5/2016).

SYNTHIA ESTHER NOTES:

Much has been written about the Angel and Fatima vision accounts.  Due to space and time considerations, I have chosen to write this brief article on the Angel Prayer of Fatima only, and not the other  prayers.  After vast bible study concerning God's created Angels and how they relate to us, God's children, I do not think the Angel Prayer of Fatima fame is Biblical.  The first consideration being: "We do not have to beg God for the conversion of poor sinners by way of human desire or effort" (Romans 9:16).  It is His desire to freely forgive all those who call upon His name.

Secondly, "the tabernacles of the world" being containers of God's "body, blood, soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ", as mentioned in this prayer, is vague in meaning.  Therefore it is important for me to note in case of any misunderstanding, the Bible clearly states the church is not the tabernacle of God, His born again children are (1 Peter 1:23; 1 Timothy 1:14; 1 Corinthians 6:19).  God's Holy spirit dwells within all who profess and claim Him as Lord (1 Corinthians 6:19).  And unless one is born again, they are not saved (John 3:3).  For it is by our confession that we claim and accept Jesus Christ as Lord (Romans 10:10; John 3:16-17).  By way of Jesus Christ's blood sacrifice, death on Calvary's Cross, and resurrection on the third day from the tomb His body was placed in, we have been given eternal life (John 3:16-17; 1 Corinthians 15:3-5).  We are blood bought by the power of Jesus Christ and His blood, redeemed by His immaculate, righteous, and holy heart!

Thirdly, the virgin Mary, the earthly mother of Jesus, does not have an immaculate heart, for she was born, like the rest of us, in sin.  She was highly favored by God, but not sinless nor freed from the stain and blemishes of sin (Luke 1:26-28).  Only Jesus Christ was born holy, righteous, and free from all sin and blemish, therefore blameless (1 Peter 2:22; 2 Corinthians 5:21).  Which is why His blood was given as sins sacrifice debt before God.  The virgin Mary cannot, for she does not have the power to, forgive or pardon us from our sins.  Only God alone can forgive sin (Mark 2:7).  To learn more about God's free gift offered to humanity,  please visit the "Salvation" page on this website.  If you desire to learn more about what is and is not biblical concerning Angel contact, this subject is covered in scriptural detail at: www.sacredpursuit.org - "Contacting Angels" (www.sacredpursuit.org/gpage21.html).

It is by way of a repentant, sincere heart, that we desire to come before God in prayer.  In relationship with God, prayer is the practice and act of actually talking to God. As we give our problems to Jesus, He hears and answers our prayers.   No prayer methods are needed, nor rituals, or programs.  Nor do we need, or should we desire, a guardian angel to appear to teach us how to pray.  We simply talk to Jesus Christ as if He were our friend, because He is indeed, a friend upon whom we can depend (Proverbs 18:24; John 15:14-15).  As we fix our eyes on Jesus as the author and finisher of our faith, we are assured He will lead, guide, and direct us in all our ways (Hebrews 12:2; Proverbs 3:5-6; Romans 8:28).

Asking God for Forgiveness of Sins, From the Book of Common Prayer we read a thoughtful prayer of repentance:

Almighty and most merciful Father,

We have erred, and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep.

We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts,

We have offended against thy holy laws,

We have left undone those things which we ought to have done,

And we have done those things which we ought not to have done,

And there is no health in us:

But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us miserable offenders;

Spare thou them, O God, which confess their faults,

Restore thou them that are penitent,

According to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord;

And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake,

That we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life,

To the glory of thy holy Name.

Amen.

It  we confess our sins God is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness - 1 John 1:9.   He who covers up his sins does not prosper, the one who confesses and forsakes them, shall have mercy - Proverbs 28:13.
